Monthly Cookbook Spotlight!


I'm about done with my 60-day new girl status at Zingerman's Bakehouse.  Getting a job there, being able to answer the question, "So what do you do?" with "Oh, I work at Zingerman's," was a huge goal of mine.

I work in the savory kitchen where we make sandwiches, salads, and soups on a daily basis.  On Wednesdays, we offer grilled cheese sandwiches hot off the press to pair with that day's soup, creamy tomato.  (Yes, "mmmmm", is the right response to that sentence.)

During the winter months, we also make pasties, a tradition from Cornwall, England, that are very popular in Michigan.  We make beef and vegetarian versions of the hearty, flaky hand pies on Thursdays and Fridays.

Besides working for a shining star in the food world, my favorite part of my job so far is the warm welcome I've received from my new colleagues.  I am a lucky girl.
